Role:
Perform technical work installing, operating and maintaining local and wide area networks, computers, servers
and VOIP Phone system. Manage help desk operations supporting network hardware and software tickets.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities:
Install, support, and manage the hardware/software/network components; respond to and develop
solutions for component failures and complex technical problems in all of these areas to deliver a
sound and stable computing infrastructure.
Consult with computer operations management, supervisory staff, and various IT personnel to
assure that IT standards for control, security, and recoverability are understood and followed;
coordinate with other IT Technical Support staff to assure that appropriate IT computing
standards are implemented and maintained; manage software upgrades to assure compliance with
standards and control procedures.
Provide primary support of help desk functions associated with all network and IT issues.
Document nature of help desk tickets to help aid in development of procedures and/or training to
enhance staff knowledge of efficient use of technical resources provided.
Participate in conversions and updates by: (a) communicating directly with users and servicers in
gathering requirements information; (b) explaining technical requirements for files and data
communications; and (c) coordinating on-site testing of data communication and software
customization.
Execute tests of data communications procedures for links to members and data servers; develop
and test interface file handling procedures for data moving between platforms, members, and
media.
Collaborate with IT Network Systems staff to support the following computing components: (a)
PC/LAN servers and workstations, (b) WAN communications links, (c) hot-site hardware/
software, and (d) office automation software; assists IT Programming Staff in on-site research of
production problems and training of supervisory staff on new procedures/software.
Responsible for compliance with Credit Union policies including the Bank Secrecy Act and
Customer Identification Program.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Performance Measurements:
1. Adhere to the Credit Union Service Standards in all interactions both internal and external as well as
employing CML (Creating Member Loyalty) skills.
2. Troubleshoot hardware and software problems in a timely manner responding to calls within 2 hours.
3. Provide resolutions while taking schedules and deadlines into consideration.
4. Install appropriate hardware or software within the specified time frames.
5. Maintain and add to technical knowledge of computer hardware and software to ensure Credit Union has the
ability to achieve its goals as outlined in the current operating plan.
6. Must be willing and able to work hours as required including evenings, weekends, holiday, etc., when
necessary with limited notice.
7. Maintain a dependable record of attendance and timeliness.
Knowledge and Skills:
Experience One year to three years of similar or related experience.
Education (1) A two year college degree or (2) Completion of a specialized course of study at a
business or trade school or (3) Completion of a specialized and extensive in-house training
or apprenticeship program.
Interpersonal Skills Work normally involves contacts with persons beyond immediate associates generally
regarding routine matters for purposes of giving or obtaining information which may
require some discussion. Outside contacts take the form of service to the public (members
or vendors) requiring ordinary courtesy in providing assistance and information.
Other Skills 1. Experience in PC usage and hardware/software support.
2. Microsoft Windows desktop and server experience required.
3. Batch and workflow programming desirable.
4. PC "TCPIP" and Networking experience a plus.
5. Ability to diagnose problems over a WAN in remote locations.
6. Must be able to install, troubleshoot, and support personal computers, servers, network
and data communications software and hardware and be familiar with basic programming
logic, processing concepts and terminology, and processing rigors.
Physical
Requirements This is sedentary work which requires the following physical activities: bending, stooping,
kneeling, crouching, sitting, walking, finger dexterity, feeling, repetitive motions, talking,
hearing and visual acuity. Specific vision abilities required for this job include close vision,
distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust
focus. Must be able to move under and around furniture and equipment and lift up to 50
pounds. Must be able to operate a motor vehicle for purposes of traveling to assigned work
locations.
Work Environment Generally inside work with occasional exposure to weather conditions.
