BATA is looking for a Transportation Service Coordinator to serve as a key connection point between riders, drivers, and daily operations. In this role, you will help coordinate safe, accurate, and efficient transportation services while delivering friendly, professional customer support to the community.
- Receive, screen, direct and analyze telephone and radio calls.

Provide clear, step-by-step communication to drivers to support efficient transportation service.

Assists riders and visitors with information requests, ticket and pass purchases, and routine questions.

Resolve customer service concerns with professionalism, knowing when to escalate more complex situations to the appropriate party.

Maintain accurate customer service information, records, files and data systems.

Coordinate closely with other Transportation Service Coordinators to support timely and accurate service deployment.

Prepare reports, enter data, summarize information, and provide clerical support.

Maintain comprehensive knowledge of transportation resources, service geography and road conditions.

Efficiently communicating with operations, mechanics, drivers, fellow transportation service coordinators and members of the public to maintain high levels of service.
As a Transportation Service Coordinator, you will play an important role in keeping BATA’s services running smoothly. You’ll communicate with customers and drivers, manage important details, respond to changing conditions, and support the daily flow of transportation operations.
The ideal candidate is organized, calm under pressure, customer-focused, and comfortable managing multiple priorities in a busy office and dispatch-style environment.
You'll succed in this role if you have:

A high school diploma or equivalent.

Three or more years of customer service experience in office clerical support operations

A valid Michigan driver’s license.

A strong computer, data entry, typing, and technology skills, with the ability to learn new systems.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

The ability to remain focused, manage interruptions, solve problems, and adapt to changing priorities.

Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate filing and records systems.

Professional, courteous approach when working with internal teams and the public.

The ability to understand service geography and visualize vehicle locations and movement.
Physical & Work Environment
This role keeps you engaged, connected, and at the center of daily transportation service. You’ll spend your day communicating with riders, drivers, and team members; using technology to keep information moving; and helping coordinate the details that make reliable public transportation possible. You’ll use your voice, focus, and attention to detail throughout the day—speaking in person, by phone, and by radio; reading and working with written and electronic information; and entering data accurately using a computer keyboard. The role includes moving within an office and occasional field setting, sitting, standing, stooping, kneeling, reaching, handling materials, and lifting or moving light to moderate items as needed.
You’ll work in a lively office environment where teamwork, communication, and quick thinking are part of the rhythm of the day. The setting is typically indoors with standard office lighting, and the noise level may range from moderate to busy and energetic depending on daily operations.
