Job Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Welder specializing in Tungsten Inert Gas (TIG) welding to join our fabrication team. The successful candidate will be responsible for executing precise welding operations on various metal materials, adhering to strict safety and quality standards. This role offers an opportunity to work on complex projects requiring advanced welding techniques, mechanical knowledge, and interpretation of technical drawings. The ideal candidate will demonstrate proficiency in a range of welding processes, including TIG, MIG, and shielded metal arc welding (SMAW), with a strong emphasis on safety and craftsmanship.
Duties
- Perform TIG welding on diverse metal materials, including sheet metal and pipework, following detailed blueprints and schematics.
- Interpret technical drawings and mechanical blueprints to ensure accurate fabrication and assembly.
- Use measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, and shop math to verify dimensions and tolerances.
- Operate power tools, plasma cutters, press brake machines, and other fabrication equipment safely and efficiently.
- Conduct metal fabrication tasks including cutting, bending, threading pipes, and sheet metal fabrication.
- Apply welding techniques in accordance with American Welding Society (AWS) standards and ASME codes & standards.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment while adhering to safety protocols at all times.
- Collaborate with team members on assembly, rigging, ductwork installation, and mechanical fabrication projects.
- Use schematics and technical diagrams to guide precise assembly and welding operations.
- Perform routine inspections of welds using calipers, micrometers, and measuring instruments to ensure quality compliance.
- Support machining operations or soldering tasks as required for complex fabrications.
Experience
- Proven experience in construction site environments or fabrication shops with a focus on metalworking.
- Demonstrated proficiency in TIG welding along with MIG welding, FCAW (Flux-Cored Arc Welding), SMAW (Shielded Metal Arc Welding), and gas metal arc welding processes.
- Strong mechanical knowledge with the ability to interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings accurately.
- Familiarity with pipe threading, rigging, ductwork installation, plasma cutting, press brake operation, and sheet metal fabrication.
- Experience working with various measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, and shop math for precise measurements.
- Knowledge of safety protocols related to welding operations and construction environments.
- Ability to operate power tools safely while maintaining high-quality workmanship.
- Prior experience adhering to AWS standards and ASME codes & standards for quality assurance.
- Mechanical fabrication skills with an emphasis on metal materials used in structural or industrial applications.
