JOB DESCRIPTION: To provide support to all clinic team members as it relates to the new patient referral processes while overseeing the staff coordinating new patients. Management duties include, but are not limited to:
· Oversees day to day operations of the New Patient Coordinator department, ensuring new patients are being processed for all physicians in practice
· Establishes department and personal goals and identifies steps for achieving goals
· Attends required meetings and participates in committees to enhance communication and promote continuous quality improvement
· Monitors job performance of staff to include coaching, counseling, goal setting and completion of the annual evaluation process
· Performs payroll reporting and accounts payable approval functions
New Patient Coordinator duties include but are not limited to: the coordination and accrual of all necessary medical records, initial referral authorization, work with primary care physician’s offices and new patient’s to obtain all necessary medical records, schedules new patient appointments, participates with other team members in practice to foster communication and continuing quality of patient care, cooperate with the integration of all services including front office, lab, pharmacy, nursing, other practice sites and business office. This also includes scanning and importing all new patient records from outside sources into the EMR
REQUIRED SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:
- Must be able to communicate with patients, peers, physicians, and the general public.
- Must have HS diploma or equivalent
- Must have telephone communication and etiquette skills.
- Must have basic computer skills, including word processing, keyboarding, and ability to learn computerized scheduling system.
- Professional appearance, able to handle multiple tasks, and be a team player.
