Job Title: Kraken Cove Lifeguard

Hourly Pay: $16.00 - $18.00 per hour, expected starting wage $16.00/hr.
Benefits: Fitness Center Essential Membership (following completion of 1 pay period and if under 18 years old fitness orientation)
Summary
The position of Lifeguard is a seasonal position. Lifeguards monitor activities in swimming areas and on deck to prevent accidents and provide assistance to swimmers by performing the following duties.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following and all other duties as assigned.

Cautions swimmers regarding unsafe activities and enforces facility rules.

Rescues swimmers in danger of drowning and administers first aid.

Will be alert and observe danger areas notifying the manager when appropriate.

Will be ready to assist in any first aid situation.

Will enforce all safety regulations.

Determines chlorine content and pH value with water-testing kit and records readings.

Cleans the pool, deck areas and locker room.

Inspects ADA accessible chairs and reports needed repairs.

Will find a sub when unable to report to a scheduled shift.

Has the ability to perform the physical and cognitive skills necessary to achieve and maintain a lifeguard and CPR certification as prescribed but the Park District.
- Will clock in and out in the payroll system at the start and end of each shift.

Education and/or Experience

Minimum education is less than high school education.

Must be at least 15 years old.

Must possess a current Red Cross Lifeguarding Certification (park district will train).

The lifeguard must be able to perform life-saving techniques including in-pool rescues, CPR, AED administration and first aid under stressful conditions.
