About C&J
C&J Equipment Manufacturing has been designing and building industrial equipment since 1978. We're expanding and adding new team members across the shop and the office, and we need an experienced trainer to help our new hires build the skills to succeed.
About the Role
As our Manufacturing Skills Trainer, your primary focus is hands-on, on-the-job skills training. You'll work side by side with new hires on the shop floor, teaching the practical skills their jobs demand and guiding each trainee through the structured training plan for their position under New Mexico's Job Training Incentive Program (JTIP).
What You Will Do
· Deliver hands-on, on-the-job training in core manufacturing skills — welding, fabrication, painting and coating, equipment operation, and assembly
· Guide new hires through the JTIP-required training plan for their position, covering each training unit and its required hours
· Demonstrate techniques, supervise practice, and assess trainee competency before signing off on each training unit
· Complete JTIP training documentation accurately and on time, including trainee sign-off forms and training hour records
· Reinforce safe work practices in every training session and model a safety-first shop culture
· Coordinate with the Training Program Coordinator and HR on training schedules, trainee progress, and program reporting
What You Bring
· Five or more years of hands-on manufacturing experience in welding, fabrication, industrial coating, or equipment assembly
· Experience training, mentoring, or leading others on the shop floor
· Ability to read and work from engineering drawings and specifications
· Strong attention to detail with documentation and record keeping
· Preferred: Experience with structured or state-funded training programs such as JTIP
Physical Requirements
This is an active, shop-floor role. Trainers must be able to stand and walk for extended periods; lift and carry up to 50 pounds; bend, stoop, kneel, and climb; and work in a non-climate-controlled shop environment with exposure to noise, welding operations, and outdoor conditions. Required PPE is provided and must be worn at all times.
