Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough psychiatric assessments, including patient history, mental status examinations, and physiological evaluations.
- Prescribe and manage psychiatric medications in accordance with state and federal regulations, ensuring safe and effective treatment plans.
- Collaborate closely with physicians, therapists, social workers, and other healthcare professionals to develop integrated care strategies.
- Utilize Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems to document patient encounters accurately and efficiently.
- Provide telehealth consultations to expand access to mental health services for remote or underserved populations.
- Educate patients and their families on treatment options, medication management, and coping strategies to support recovery and resilience.
- Participate in clinical research initiatives related to behavioral health and contribute to quality improvement projects aligned with NCQA standards.
Requirements
- Valid state licensure as a Nurse Practitioner with certification in Psychiatry or Mental Health Nursing.
- Demonstrated experience working with diverse populations, including children, geriatrics, or individuals with developmental disabilities.
- Proficiency in EMR/EHR systems for medical documentation and patient management.
- Strong knowledge of psychopharmacology, including medication administration and drug interactions under DEA regulations.
- Experience with behavioral health assessments, crisis intervention, triage, and acute pain management techniques.
- Familiarity with CPT coding for billing purposes and ICD coding (ICD-10) for diagnoses documentation.
- Excellent client communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively within multidisciplinary teams.
