Position Summary
The Shipping Team Lead is responsible for directing activities related to packaging, labeling, handling, receiving, inventory, and shipping. The Shipping Team Lead (not including constraints outside of his/her control) ensures on-time, cost-effective delivery of goods to various company departments and customer destinations.
Essential Functions
· Responsible for accurate and timely shipping of finished goods
· Direct drivers (1 to 2) and shipping associates (1 to 2); provide regular feedback to employees throughout the year, assist with 90-day review for new hires and annual reviews for employees
· Collaborate daily with the VP Manufacturing to ensure department priorities are meeting production needs
· Set up written process and train department employees on FedEx, UPS, and LTL truckload shipments; Pace (MIS - Allied provides training), receipt of packing slips and damaged product process, packing slip creations, and international parcel shipments
· Coordinate transfer of goods between Allied facilities
· Schedule time for routine maintenance of material handling equipment and vehicles
· Verify, inspect, and process incoming materials and accompanying documents in accordance with department procedures; document any shortages and/or substandard or damaged materials
· Review schedule with production and ensure materials are delivered to departments in a timely manner
· Oversee monthly and year-end inventory counts; reconcile any discrepancies
· Work closely with HR Manager on appropriate issues including hiring, promotion, performance, and training
· Schedule PTO and overtime as needed, ensuring adequate coverage in the department
· Consult with sales/estimating for shipping cost estimates and schedules
· Ensure a clean, organized, and safe working environment; promote professionalism by monitoring the attire of the drivers, customer/vendor interactions, and the condition of the vehicles
· Operate the department in accordance with ISO work instructions and quality measures; recommend changes for improvement

· Demonstrate a proficiency in the use of the data collection and management information systems (Pace)
· Keep an accurate log of shipments between buildings; write accurate shippers and verify goods shipped
· Strong problem-solving, decision-making, and organizational abilities
· Continuing desire for personal growth and development of leadership and management abilities
Minimum Qualifications
· High school education or equivalent
· Five or more years of progressive experience in shipping, preferably in a lead role
· Current forklift certification and Chauffer’s license preferred
Pay: $20.00 - $24.00 per hour
