POSITION TITLE: Coordinator of Children & Family Ministry
Status: Part-Time, 20 Hours per Week
Reports To: Head of Staff / Senior Pastor
Age Group Focus: Grades 6-12
POSITION SUMMARY
The Coordinator of Youth and Communications is a dynamic and relational role focused on nurturing the faith and community of our middle and high school students, while also serving as the congregation’s voice to the broader public. This person will invest deeply in the lives of young people, build a culture of belonging and discipleship, and use communication tools to help our surrounding community know who we are and what God is doing among us.
YOUTH MINISTRY
PROGRAMMING & DISCIPLESHIP
- Plan and lead all regular youth group meetings throughout the program year, with a commitment to spiritual formation, community, and fun
- Design a rhythm of gatherings that includes worship, teaching, fellowship, and service
- Develop and lead seasonal and special events to deepen relationships and create memorable experiences for students
- Coordinate and lead the annual summer mission trip, including all aspects of preparation, logistics, fundraising, and follow-up
- Plan and execute additional summer programming to keep students engaged and connected during the break from school
VOLUNTEER RECRUITMENT & DEVELOPMENT
- Actively recruit, equip, and support adult volunteers to serve as small group leaders and event helpers
- Cast a compelling vision for youth ministry that invites others to invest
- Provide training, encouragement, and regular communication to maintain a healthy volunteer team
EXTERNAL COMMUNICATIONS
This position carries responsibility for communicating the life and mission of the church to the wider community:
- Develop and maintain an active, engaging presence on the church’s social media platforms (e.g., Instagram, Facebook)
- Create content that reflects the values, culture, and personality of the congregation
- Coordinate with the Director of Congregational Life to ensure consistency between internal and external messaging
- Assist with other public-facing communications as needed (e.g., community outreach, event promotion)
STAFF SUPPORT
- Serve as a flexible team player who supports the Director of Congregational Life and Head of Staff with various tasks as ministry needs arise
- Assist with congregation-wide events that benefit from additional staff support
- Bring creativity and energy to shared staff projects
QUALIFICATIONS
- A mature and growing Christian faith with a genuine love for teenagers
- Experience in youth ministry, education, or a related field strongly preferred
- Excellent relational skills with the ability to connect with students, parents, and volunteers
- Comfort with and enthusiasm for social media and digital communication tools
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a small staff
- Must pass a background check and adhere to church Safe Church policies
WORKING RELATIONSHIPS
The Coordinator of Youth and Communications works under the supervision of the Head of Staff and in close collaboration with the rest of the staff. All are expected to function as a cohesive ministry team, coordinating intentionally around volunteer support, summer programming, and the overall rhythm of congregational life.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $22.00 - $23.00 per hour
