Job Title: Operations Manager – Warehousing, Production
Position Summary
The Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing daily warehouse and production operations. This role ensures efficient, safe, and high-quality production and distribution while building a well-trained, compliant, and engaged workforce. The ideal candidate combines strong operational leadership in a manufacturing or warehouse environment.
Key Responsibilities
Operations & Production Management
- Oversee daily warehouse and production operations to meet production, quality, and delivery targets
- Plan and manage labor, materials, and workflow to optimize efficiency and throughput
- Ensure adherence to standard operating procedures (SOPs), work instructions, and quality standards
- Monitor inbound receiving, inventory control, assembly activities, and outbound shipping
- Identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives (Lean, 5S, waste reduction)
- Monitor performance indicators related to productivity, quality, safety, and on-time delivery
Head Office Communication & Reporting
- Act as the primary point of contact between the site and Head Office for operational and HR matters
- Provide regular high-level updates on daily operations, staffing levels, production status, and key risks
- Prepare and deliver concise reports and summaries on performance metrics, labor utilization, and workforce trends
- Communicate project timelines, milestones, and issues, ensuring alignment with corporate objectives
- Escalate operational, staffing, and compliance issues with clear recommendations and action plans
- Participate in leadership meetings, planning sessions, and cross-functional initiatives with Department Heads
Health, Safety & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with all workplace health and safety regulations • Lead safety programs, incident investigations, and corrective actions
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
- Ensure compliance with employment standards, labor laws, and company policies
Human Resources & People Management
- Lead recruitment, onboarding, and training for warehouse and production staff
- Manage employee scheduling, attendance, and workforce planning
- Conduct performance reviews, coaching, and progressive discipline
- Support employee engagement, retention, and development initiatives
- Act as the primary point of contact for employee relations issues
- Ensure accurate documentation of HR records, policies, and procedures
Leadership & Supervision
- Directly manage supervisors, leads, and hourly staff
- Foster a positive, accountable, and team-oriented workplace culture
- Address staffing gaps by reallocating resources or stepping in as needed
- Communicate goals, expectations, and operational priorities clearly
Equipment & Facility Management
- Ensure proper use and basic maintenance of warehouse and assembly equipment
- Coordinate repairs, preventive maintenance, and facility upkeep
- Manage space utilization and layout improvements
Qualifications & Experience
- 5+ years of operations management experience in warehousing, manufacturing, or light assembly
- Knowledge and understanding of HR or people-management experience
- Strong knowledge of labor laws, health & safety regulations.
- Proven experience managing hourly workforces and multiple shifts
- Excellent leadership, communication, and conflict-resolution skills
- Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities
- Proficiency with ERP, WMS systems preferred
