Job Summary
We are seeking a motivated and dependable Rear Load Driver to join our dynamic transportation team. In this role, you will be responsible for safely operating rear load trucks to collect waste and recyclable materials from commercial and residential locations. Your energetic approach and attention to safety will ensure efficient collection routes while maintaining excellent customer service. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to community cleanliness and sustainability efforts through active, hands-on work. Must have had a CDL for at least 2 1/2 years and have dependable transportation.
- Safely operate rear loader trucks, ensuring compliance with all traffic laws and safety regulations
- Load waste and recyclables manually or mechanically, utilizing your mechanical knowledge and experience with various truck types such as front loader, roll-off, dump, flatbed, and tractor-trailer trucks
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles to identify maintenance needs or safety issues
- Load and unload materials efficiently, managing heavy lifting tasks with proper techniques to prevent injury
- Collect waste from designated locations, following assigned routes with precision and timeliness
- Maintain accurate records of pickups, route completion, and any incidents or vehicle issues during shifts
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers and team members to coordinate daily operations and address any route adjustments or challenges
Skills
- Strong mechanical knowledge of heavy-duty trucks, including rear loader, front loader, roll-off, dump trucks, flatbeds, and tractor-trailers
- Proven experience in commercial driving with a valid driver’s license for heavy vehicles; proficiency in manual transmission is preferred
- Skilled in driving various types of trucks such as rear loader trucks, front loaders, roll-off trucks, dump trucks, flatbeds, and tractor-trailers
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and efficiently during load and unload processes
- Excellent driving skills with a clean driving record; familiarity with local traffic laws and safety standards
- Physical stamina for manual labor tasks involved in loading waste materials repeatedly throughout the day
- Experience in delivery driving or waste collection roles is advantageous
