Role Overview
Support our Grocery Department Manager in day-to-day operations while delivering excellent customer service. You'll manage stocking, inventory, team training, and floor standards in a fast-paced retail environment. This hands-on leadership role combines physical work with floor oversight and customer engagement.
Core Responsibilities
Stocking & Merchandising
- Unload trucks and stock shelves (freezers, dairy cases, coolers)
- Rotate inventory using FIFO method; pull damaged/expired items
Inventory & Stock Control
- Monitor levels and alert management to out-of-stock products
- Maintain accurate pricing tags and shelf labels
Food Safety & Compliance
- Record case temperatures and ensure compliance with health regulations
- Keep backroom and sales floor clean and organized
Customer Service & Team Support
- Assist shoppers with product location and questions
- Train and support team members; foster a welcoming environment
Physical Requirements
- Lift/carry 25 lbs regularly; up to 50 lbs occasionally
- Stand/walk full shifts; bend, stoop, reach into deep freezers
- Work extended periods in refrigerated and sub-zero environments
What We're Looking For
- Basic math skills; ability to read labels and follow instructions
- Flexible availability (early mornings, nights, weekends, holidays)
- Strong teamwork and communication; comfort collaborating across departments
This is a paid position offering hands-on retail leadership in a rewarding, customer-focused team at Godfrey's.
Pay: $17.00 - $19.00 per hour
