About the Opportunity
A well-established, employee-owned engineering consulting firm is seeking an experienced Survey Project Manager to help lead and expand its survey operations throughout the Mid-Atlantic region. This is an outstanding opportunity for a licensed Maryland Professional Land Surveyor who enjoys managing complex projects, mentoring staff, and helping grow a highly respected surveying practice.
The successful candidate will play a key leadership role in delivering high-quality surveying services while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams supporting land development, transportation, municipal, environmental, and infrastructure projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage surveying projects from proposal through final deliverables, ensuring projects are completed on schedule and within budget.
- Oversee a variety of survey assignments, including boundary, ALTA/NSPS, topographic, right-of-way, construction, and utility surveys.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, maintaining strong relationships through proactive communication and responsive service.
- Review, certify, and seal survey plats and related documents in accordance with Maryland laws and professional standards.
- Coordinate with survey field crews, office technicians, CAD staff, and engineering teams to ensure accurate and timely project execution.
- Monitor project schedules, budgets, staffing, and overall performance while maintaining a high level of quality control.
- Mentor junior survey professionals and support the continued development of technical staff.
- Assist with project planning, scope development, proposals, and business development efforts as the survey practice continues to expand.
Qualifications
Required
- Active Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) license in the State of Maryland.
- Minimum of 8 years of progressive land surveying experience with demonstrated project management responsibilities.
- Strong understanding of Maryland surveying regulations, standards, and industry best practices.
- Proven ability to successfully manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
- Experience using modern surveying technologies, CAD platforms, and data collection equipment.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and client relationship skills.
- Valid driver's license with the ability to perform occasional field visits as needed.
Preferred
- Professional Land Surveyor licensure in Pennsylvania, Delaware, New Jersey, or additional Mid-Atlantic states.
- Experience supporting land development, transportation, municipal, or infrastructure projects.
- Previous experience supervising or mentoring survey personnel.
- Experience working within a multidisciplinary engineering consulting environment.
