Duties
- Measure, cut, and prepare upholstery materials using hand tools and power tools to ensure precise fitting.
- Operate sewing machines to stitch fabric or leather coverings securely onto furniture frames.
- Assemble furniture components by following detailed instructions and technical specifications.
- Use hand tools and power tools to remove old upholstery, repair damaged parts, or modify furniture pieces as needed.
- Apply padding, fabric, leather, or other materials with sewing machines and manual techniques to achieve a smooth finish.
- Conduct auto restoration techniques on vintage or damaged furniture to restore original appearance and function.
- Inspect finished products for quality control, ensuring all upholstery work meets safety and aesthetic standards.
Skills
- Proficiency with hand tools such as staple guns, screwdrivers, pliers, and measuring tapes.
- Experience operating sewing machines for upholstery or related sewing projects.
- Strong knowledge of sewing techniques specific to furniture upholstery.
- Background in manufacturing processes with an emphasis on assembly and craftsmanship.
- Familiarity with auto restoration methods applicable to furniture or similar items.
- Ability to work efficiently with power tools including drills, sanders, and cutters.
