Overview
Bridging the Gap Leadership Group is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Research & Program Evaluation Intern to assist with collecting, analyzing, and reporting program data. This internship is ideal for students pursuing degrees in Public Health, Psychology, Social Work, Sociology, Criminal Justice, Education, Statistics, Data Analytics, Business Analytics, Public Administration, or related fields.
The intern will work directly with BTG leadership to evaluate the effectiveness of youth leadership programs, summer camps, mentoring initiatives, workforce development activities, and community outreach efforts. The intern will gain hands-on experience in nonprofit research, program evaluation, community impact measurement, and evidence-based decision-making.
This position plays a vital role in helping BTG improve programs, demonstrate measurable outcomes, strengthen grant applications, and communicate impact to funders and community partners.
Responsibilities
The Research & Program Evaluation Intern will:
- Design surveys for youth, parents, volunteers, and community partners.
- Develop pre-program and post-program assessments to measure participant growth.
- Collect attendance and participation data for all BTG programs.
- Organize and maintain confidential program databases.
- Enter, clean, and verify data for accuracy.
- Conduct qualitative research by organizing participant interviews, focus groups, and testimonials.
- Analyze quantitative and qualitative data to identify trends and outcomes.
- Measure program effectiveness using key performance indicators (KPIs).
- Create charts, graphs, dashboards, and visual reports that summarize program results.
- Assist in writing monthly, quarterly, and annual program evaluation reports.
- Track participant outcomes related to leadership development, life skills, education, employment readiness, and behavioral growth.
- Research best practices in youth development and evidence-based programming.
- Compare BTG program outcomes with local, state, and national youth development data.
- Assist with community needs assessments to identify service gaps.
- Develop recommendations to improve program quality based on research findings.
- Support grant writers by providing program statistics, outcome data, and evaluation summaries.
- Help build systems for long-term data collection and impact measurement.
- Present findings during leadership meetings when requested.
Pay: $14.00 - $26.00 per hour
