The Staff Pharmacist, Fulfillment reviews prescriptions to ensure the prescriptions may be dispensed in accordance with Pennsylvania Board of Pharmacy requirements, as well as the directives of other Boards of Pharmacy served by Personalized Skin Solutions. The Staff Pharmacist, Fulfillment directly supervises pharmacy technicians during fulfillment process in accordance with Pennsylvania Board of Pharmacy requirements. The Staff Pharmacist, Fulfillment ensures the safety of the team members that work in the vicinity of the fulfillment area. The staff pharmacist interacts with prescribers and patients, as appropriate. The Staff Pharmacist, Fulfillment is responsible for quality-checking every unit of medication dispensed by the pharmacy while working in fulfillment. Essential Functions
- Complies with all applicable federal and state pharmacy laws, including but not limited to: USP 800, USP 795, and Pennsylvania Board of Pharmacy requirements.
- Performs duties in compliance with Personalized Skin Solutions, Inc. standard operating procedures and best practices.
- In general, ensures the quality and safety of dispensed compounded products and supplies.
- Maintains licensure in good standing with all applicable states.
- Ensures medication is accurately labeled and packaged by fulfillment team members, prior to shipping.
- Quality checks medication units to ensure that the medication fulfills all state requirements prior to being dispensed to patients.
- Ensures medication is delivered to the address indicated by the patient.
- Maintains professional competence for all duties performed.
- Checks for accuracy and safety of prescriptions.
- Interprets and clarifies prescription orders with prescribing practitioner(s) as necessary.
- Ensures all prescriptions meet dispensing requirements, prior to initiating the dispensing process.
- Offers information and counsel, to prescribing practitioners, collaborating health care professionals and other employees, as appropriate.
- Counsels and advises patients concerning dispensed prescriptions.
- Performs all duties of pharmacy technician, as needed
- Completes special projects assigned by Fulfillment Director and Pharmacist in Charge.
- Must have good attendance and be consistently punctual.
- Other duties, responsibilities and activities, as needed.
Supervisory Responsibilities
- Provides leadership and fosters positive employee relations through effective communication.
- Inputs patient and prescription information and/or supervise such work as performed by others licensed to do so.
- Ensures all pharmacy staff adhere to guidance, rules and regulations, when necessary
- Assists Technician Manager, Fulfillment in setting expectations and goals.
Work Requirements
- The Staff Pharmacist, Fulfillment must be able to work in an industrial environment, standing and walking around as much as 90% of the day.
- Must be able to safely and effectively wear a respirator for an entire day, as necessary.
- May need to lift as much as 40 lbs.
- Must be able to pass drug test, prior to hire, as well as any subsequent random drug tests.
- Availability to work every 3rd weekend on a rotating schedule
- Flexibility to work additional shifts as business needs require
- Typing and computer usage throughout the day.
- Must be able to travel, as necessary, to obtain/maintain licensure and continuing education units (<5%).
- Limited exposure to potentially hazardous substances.
Qualifications and Skills
Minimum Requirements:
- PharmD or RPH degree from an ACPE accredited School of Pharmacy.
- Required Licensure: The Staff Pharmacist, Fulfillment must have Pennsylvania resident pharmacist licensure, and be in good standing with the Pennsylvania Board of Pharmacy.
- Ability to become licensed and maintain licensure in good standing in all states that require non-resident pharmacist licensure.
- Licensure requirements may include, but not be limited to, Department of Justice and Federal Bureau of Investigation level background checks.
- Strong sense of integrity and ability to maintain confidentiality of protected patient health information.
- Must exhibit sense of urgency and initiative while maintaining attention to detail in quality-checking preparations, establishing priorities, and meeting deadlines.
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize tasks from multiple sources.
- Interacts politely and effectively with patients, practitioners and others.
- Ability to grasp concepts and re-apply that information in similar situations.
Preferred Requirements:
- Experience with pharmacy compliance and regulations.
- Mail Order Pharmacy Experience
- Experience with pharmacy accreditation
- 2 years experience in nonsterile compounding pharmacy.
