POSITION SUMMARY
Under the supervision of the owner and bar manager; the bartender will prepare and serve alcoholic and nonalcoholic beverages to patrons; oversee the stock of liquor and bar supplies; maintain the bar and keep it clean and organized; and collect money for drinks served.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
The bartender receives orders from patrons and waitstaff. Prepares and serves liquor, mixed drinks, wine, beer, and nonalcoholic drinks as ordered. Ensures fruit and other garnishes are prepared ahead of the opening of the bar and before the next shift. Maintains the bar and keeps it clean and organized. The responsibilities for this position may include:
- Receives orders from patrons and waitstaff.
- Prepares and serves liquor, mixed drinks, wine, beer, and nonalcoholic drinks as ordered.
- Ensures fruit and other garnishes are prepared ahead of the opening of the bar and prior to the next shift.
- Maintains the bar and keeps it clean and organized.
- Creates attractive displays using glasses and liquor bottles.
- Ensures that patrons are of legal drinking age by checking photo IDs.
- Collects money from patrons for drinks prepared and served.
- Maintains credit and debit card transactions ensuring charges are accurate and returning correct change to patrons balancing the cash register.
- Uses proper judgment and, when necessary, refuses service to patrons who are intoxicated or disruptive.
- Submits orders or creates requisition forms for liquor, beer, and other bar-related supplies.
- Welcomes and listens to patrons in order to determine the beverage preferences and making recommendations
- Plans drink menus and informs patrons of new beverages and specials
- Adheres to all food safety and quality regulations
- Develops new cocktail recipes
- Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS/CERTIFICATIONS
- High school diploma or GED.
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
- Current SERVSAFE certification or has successfully completed a sanitation course within the past year.
- Completion of mixology, barkeeping, or other related training required.
- At least one year of related experience preferred.
- Current bar card and other certification as required by federal/state/local law.
- Familiar with point-of-sale computers and software.
- Above average organizing and coordinating skills.
- Excellent computer, problem-solving, and customer service skills.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to diffuse tense situations and resolve conflicts.
- Willingness to work during peak hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Must be high-energy with a positive and engaging personality and appearance.
- Ability to accept receipt of goods and supplies.
- Strong task and time management abilities.
- CPR/First Aid Certification required within 30 days of hire.

- Open availability mandatory for morning shifts. Must have flexible schedule and willing to work various daytime shifts.
