We are seeking qualified candidates to safely and efficiently operate a variety of heavy equipment for excavation, grading, back filling, hauling and loading, and to provide support as needed throughout the worksite.
Essential Functions
- Operates heavy equipment (excavators, bulldozers, scrapers, skid steer loaders, haul trucks, tractors, etc.) used in mass grade and utility projects.
- Observes and examines colored flags and ground markings indicating the location of underground utilities and structures.
- Cleaning, Lubricating, and performing regular safety checks on equipment.
- Identify faults and troubleshooting equipment as needed. Promptly report all faults to the supervisor or foreman.
- Ensure the worksite and equipment are kept safe and clean.
- Communicate effectively with crew members to ensure the timely completion of tasks.
- Other duties as required.
Requirements and Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
- A minimum of two years of experience required operating heavy equipment in a mass grade operation.
- Experience grading for curb and pavement. Experience operating GPS and other grading modules.
- Ability to read blueprints.
- Must have a valid Driver’s License. CDL helpful but not required.
- Strong work ethic, reliability, and physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Excellent teamwork and people skills.
- Maintain a positive attitude and willingness to learn.
- Ability to follow orders, especially under pressure.
- Ability to manage time to complete required day-to-day tasks.
Work Environment
Regularly works in outdoor weather conditions and near mechanical moving parts. Possible exposure to distracting/uncomfortable noise levels and vibration. Possible exposure to fumes or airborne particles that may affect respiration and skin.
Physical Demands
Sitting, standing, walking, driving, climbing/ladders, squatting/kneeling, reaching, grasping, pushing/pulling, twisting/bending, lifting/carrying up to 50 lbs., talking, hearing, close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
Expected Hours of Work and Travel
Seasonal (hours may vary and depend on weather). Overtime, as necessary. Must be available to work Monday-Saturday. Must have reliable transportation and liability insurance to travel to local work sites.
Work Authorization
Must be authorized to work in the United States.
