Responsibilities
- Install new fire alarm systems according to blueprints, schematics, and system design specifications using hand tools, power tools, and CAD software.
- Conduct thorough inspections of fire alarm components, sensors, low voltage wiring, and electrical connections to ensure compliance with NEC (National Electrical Code) standards.
- Read and interpret complex schematics, blueprints, and system diagrams to facilitate accurate system setup and troubleshooting.
- Perform routine maintenance, testing, and servicing of fire alarm systems to guarantee optimal performance across all sites.
- Collaborate with construction teams during new builds or renovations to ensure fire alarm systems are integrated seamlessly into building infrastructure.
- Document all service activities meticulously through detailed reports and logs; communicate findings clearly with clients or project managers.
- Provide expert advice on system design improvements or upgrades; participate in fire alarm sales efforts by demonstrating system capabilities to clients.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a service technician or installer specializing in fire alarm systems or low voltage electrical systems.
- Strong mechanical knowledge combined with hands-on experience using hand tools, power tools, and test equipment.
- Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings accurately; familiarity with CAD is a plus.
- Knowledge of fire sprinkler fitting, construction inspection processes, and building codes such as NEC standards.
- Familiarity with sensors, alarms, control panels, and other fire detection components; experience with fire alarm sales is advantageous.
- Electrical experience including wiring techniques for low voltage systems; understanding of system design principles is essential.
- Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot complex electrical or sensor issues efficiently.
