Job Summary
We are seeking an organized, enthusiastic, and leadership-minded Swim Program Coordinator who has a genuine love for the water and a passion for aquatic education. This multi-faceted role is responsible for overseeing our swim program's daily operations, ensuring the safety of all swimmers, managing a dedicated team of instructors, and acting as the primary point of contact for parent needs.
Key Responsibilities
Program Leadership & Quality Control:
- Oversee the Swim Program: Maintain high-quality delivery of our curriculum, ensuring a safe, positive, and engaging environment.
- Manage Swim Benchmarks: Track, verify, and document student progress and swim skill benchmarks across all levels.
- Staff Evaluations: Conduct regular performance evaluations for swim instructors and lifeguards to ensure teaching quality and adherence to safety standards.
Operations & Team Management:
- Staff Scheduling & Needs: Create, optimize, and manage the staff schedule; address instructor needs, shift coverage, and roster adjustments.
- Deck Supervision: Monitor pool activities to ensure the safety of all patrons, enforce pool rules, and respond effectively to emergencies.
- Instruction & Coaching: Provide direct, high-quality swim instruction to children and beginners when needed, modeling best practices for the staff.
- Logistics: Coordinate the setup, breakdown, and maintenance of swim lesson equipment and ensure a clean, safe pool environment.
Customer & Parent Relations:
- Parent Support: Serve as the primary, friendly point of contact for parents, addressing questions regarding student progress, scheduling, and program details.
- Communication: Act as a bridge between parents, instructional staff, and upper management to ensure clear and timely information flow.
Qualifications
- Leadership Experience: Proven ability to manage a team, coordinate schedules, and evaluate staff performance (aquatic or youth sports management preferred).
- Aquatics Expertise: Strong swimming ability, deep water safety knowledge, and experience teaching swim lessons.
- Superb Communication: Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to handle parent inquiries and team logistics with professionalism and empathy.
- Organization Skills: Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to track multiple data points like student skills and staff schedules simultaneously.
- Composure: Ability to stay alert, attentive, and calm under pressure or during emergency situations.
Requirements
- Current Lifeguard Certification
- Must have teaching swim lesson experience.
- Availability to work part-time afternoons and weekends.
Compensation & Benefits
- Pay Rate: Starting at $25/hour
