Duties
- Prepare ingredients by washing, peeling, chopping, and portioning fresh produce and other food items according to recipes and standards
- Assist in assembling dishes during meal preparation, ensuring presentation meets quality expectations
- Follow food safety protocols diligently to maintain cleanliness, proper storage, and hygiene standards throughout the kitchen
- Support the culinary team with basic cooking tasks such as boiling, sautéing, or baking under supervision
- Organize and stock workstations with necessary supplies, ingredients, and utensils for efficient kitchen operations
- Help with meal assembly for catering events or special functions as needed
- Maintain a clean work environment by sanitizing surfaces, tools, and equipment regularly
Skills
- Experience working in dietary departments or as a dietary aide is highly valued for understanding food handling procedures
- Strong knowledge of menu planning and food preparation techniques to support diverse meal offerings
- Proven ability in cooking, food service, and food handling within restaurant or food industry settings
- Excellent knife skills for precise ingredient prep and safety in the kitchen
- Familiarity with culinary practices including meal preparation, food safety regulations, and catering support
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure while maintaining high standards of cleanliness and safety
- Good communication skills to collaborate effectively with team members and follow instructions accurately
