American Traveler is seeking a Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) with at least 2 years of large OR experience for a hospital Operating Room position in Rio Rancho, NM.

Hospital Operating Room (OR) setting

4x10-hour day shifts, 40 hours per week

13-week contract

Ortho, ENT, and/or vascular cases are a regular part of the caseload
-
Epic EMR used; on-site training available for those without prior Epic experience
-
Floating between departments or local locations within 20 miles is required
-
Minimum 2 years of current experience in a large OR required
-
HS Diploma or GED, plus completion of a Surgical Technician training program from an accredited school OR a CST/TS-C credential from NBSTSA or NCCT with 10 years of experience

BLS certification required, completed through the American Heart Association, American Health and Safety, or American Red Cross

CST (NBSTSA) or Tech in Surgery – Certified (NCCT) credential preferred

Must be a team player, flexible, and comfortable in a fast-paced environment

Ortho, ENT, and/or vascular experience a plus

License required if applicable

Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible

Prepare, organize, and provide instruments and equipment to the surgical team during operative procedures

Perform instrument, sponge, and needle counts before and throughout each procedure
-
Establish and maintain the sterile field, ensuring aseptic technique throughout all cases

Prepare patient skin for surgical treatment and assist with patient positioning and repositioning during surgery
-
Ensure proper specimen handling and routing to the appropriate destination

Provide supportive care during the pre-operative phase and assist with patient monitoring during surgery

Maintain current knowledge of anatomy, physiology, intraoperative medications, and surgical equipment

Stay current through participation in seminars, workshops, and professional publications

Former employees of the health system must wait one year before being considered as a traveler
