Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled, energetic, and dependable Automotive Mechanic to join our auto repair shop. In this role, you will diagnose, maintain, and repair a variety of late model cars, trucks, and light-duty vehicles. The ideal candidate is a hands-on problem solver with strong diagnostic skills who takes pride in quality workmanship and providing excellent customer service.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical problems on cars and light-duty trucks.
- Perform routine maintenance, including oil changes, tune-ups, fluid services, filters, belts, hoses, and spark plugs.
- Inspect and repair brakes, suspension, steering, and drivetrain components.
- Diagnose check-engine lights and other warning lights using diagnostic scanners and testing equipment.
- Perform electrical diagnostics using multimeters and other automotive testing tools.
- Repair and replace components such as alternators, starters, batteries, water pumps, radiators, and other engine accessories.
- Perform engine and cooling-system repairs as needed.
- Inspect vehicles and identify needed repairs and maintenance.
- Clearly communicate vehicle problems and recommended repairs to the shop owner and service advisor.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area.
- Follow proper safety procedures and use shop equipment responsibly.
- Complete repairs efficiently while maintaining high-quality workmanship.
Qualifications
- Previous experience as an Automotive Mechanic or Automotive Technician is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of automotive engines, brakes, suspension, steering, electrical systems, heating and air conditioning, and general vehicle maintenance.
- Ability to diagnose mechanical and electrical problems.
- Experience using automotive diagnostic scanners, code readers, multimeters, and other repair tools.
- Ability to perform repairs independently with minimal supervision.
- Must have your own basic set of automotive tools.
- Valid driver's license preferred.
- ASE certifications are a plus but not required.
- Strong work ethic, reliability, and attention to detail.
- Ability to work well in a small team environment.
- Good communication and customer service skills.
