The Inventory Control Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the accuracy, organization, movement, and accountability of fresh produce inventory within our warehouse operations.
This position supervises daily inventory-control activities, monitors product rotation and storage, investigates discrepancies, and works closely with Procurement, Receiving, Warehouse Operations, and Quality Assurance to ensure that inventory records accurately reflect physical product on hand.
The Inventory Control Supervisor plays a key role in reducing shrink, spoilage, mis-picks, shorts, and product loss while ensuring that produce is properly identified, stored, rotated, and available to meet customer-order requirements.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate daily inventory-control activities within the produce warehouse.
- Maintain accurate inventory records through routine cycle counts, physical counts, and inventory reconciliations.
- Compare physical inventory to warehouse-management-system records and promptly investigate discrepancies.
- Monitor the receiving, storage, movement, selection, staging, and shipment of produce inventory.
- Ensure products are assigned to the correct warehouse location, item number, lot, pack size, grade, and customer designation.
- Oversee proper stock rotation using first-in, first-out or other required product-rotation methods.
- Monitor product age, shelf life, temperature requirements, and condition to reduce spoilage and shrink.
- Identify slow-moving, aging, damaged, short-dated, or excess inventory and communicate concerns to management.
- Coordinate with Quality Assurance regarding product holds, releases, rejections, inspections, and disposition.
- Work with Procurement to resolve receiving discrepancies, supplier shortages, substitutions, overages, and product-quality concerns.
- Investigate inventory shortages, overages, mis-picks, incorrect product locations, and unexplained adjustments.
- Review and approve inventory adjustments in accordance with Company procedures and authorization requirements.
- Verify that returned products are properly inspected, documented, and returned to inventory, placed on hold, or disposed of as appropriate.
- Monitor repacking, regrading, product transfers, and other inventory movements to ensure accurate documentation.
- Maintain organized, clearly identified, and accessible inventory locations.
- Ensure damaged, rejected, recalled, or held products are properly segregated and identified.
- Prepare regular reports regarding inventory accuracy, shrink, spoilage, adjustments, aging inventory, and recurring discrepancies.
- Enforce Company safety, sanitation, food-safety, and warehouse procedures.
- Participate in periodic physical inventories and ensure count results are properly documented and reconciled.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Associate degree in logistics, supply chain, business, or a related field preferred.
- Minimum two years of forklift and electric pallet jack experience.
- Previous inventory-control, warehouse, produce-distribution, receiving, or shipping experience required.
- Prior supervisory or lead experience preferred.
- Experience working with fresh produce or other perishable products strongly preferred.
- Familiarity with warehouse-management systems, scanners, inventory reports, and Microsoft Office applications.
- Strong mathematical, analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to investigate discrepancies and maintain accurate records.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to inventory accuracy.
- Ability to communicate effectively with employees, supervisors, vendors, and other departments.
- Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced warehouse environment.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, reach, push, pull, and climb approved ladders or steps.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Ability to work in refrigerated and temperature-controlled warehouse areas.
- Ability to work around forklifts, pallet jacks, loading docks, and other warehouse equipment.
- Ability to visually inspect labels, products, quantities, and storage locations.

Schedule: Monday–Friday, 10 a.m.–6 p.m., with occasional Sundays.
