Job description:
I'm Aidan, a Stanford neuroscience researcher and former classroom teacher, and I founded Plato+ to deliver premium in-home tutoring to Silicon Valley families at the top of the market. I read every application personally. Our team spans Stanford, UPenn, Berkeley, and UChicago, including a physics PhD and a doctoral-level learning specialist. Our families, including executives and founders, pay for the best, so we interview few and hire fewer.
What you'd teach
One-on-one, in students' homes across Redwood City, Menlo Park, Atherton, and Woodside:
- High school math: Algebra 2, trigonometry, precalculus
- Science: chemistry and biology, honors and AP
- AP Calculus or AP Physics is a strong plus and comes with more students
The setup
- Weekday afternoons and evenings
- Start at 2-4 hours/week and grow as far as you want
- Five weekly students is roughly $1,800-2,000/month for five focused hours a week
- We handle marketing, scheduling, billing, and parent logistics. No lesson plans, no classroom management, no admin. You teach.
Who we're looking for
- A degree from a strong STEM or pre-health program (graduate work a plus), or a credentialed math/science teacher with a record of excellence
- 2+ years teaching or tutoring high school students
- Real command across math and the sciences, not one narrow subject
- The presence to earn trust in a discerning family's living room within five minutes
- Reliable car, Peninsula afternoon/evening availability, and able to pass a LiveScan background check
Pay: $85.00 - $100.00 per hour
Expected hours: 2.0 – 10.0 per week
Application Question(s):
- How many years of experience do you have teaching or tutoring high school students in math or science?
- Do you have a reliable car and weekday afternoon/evening availability for in-person sessions in the Redwood City–Menlo Park–Atherton–Woodside area?
Work Location: In person
