Duties
- Supervise and coordinate veterinary technician staff, ensuring efficient workflow and adherence to protocols.
- Assist veterinarians during examinations, surgeries, and diagnostic procedures with expertise in anesthesia monitoring, animal restraint, and surgical assistance.
- Perform complex laboratory work including phlebotomy, diagnostic radiology, and veterinary laboratory diagnostics to support accurate diagnoses.
- Manage anesthesia administration, monitor vital signs during procedures, and operate medical equipment with precision.
- Handle animal husbandry tasks such as feeding, grooming, and maintaining cleanliness in kennels and treatment areas; ensure proper animal handling and restraint techniques.
- Conduct IV insertions, vascular access procedures, animal catheterization, and radiology diagnostics while maintaining aseptic technique.
- Communicate effectively with clients regarding pet care instructions, treatment plans, and post-procedure care to foster trust and understanding.
Qualifications
- Proven veterinary technician experience with proficiency in veterinary terminology, animal physiology, and anatomy.
- Demonstrated expertise in critical & intensive care, emergency medicine, anesthesia monitoring, and veterinary surgical assistance.
- Strong background in laboratory procedures including phlebotomy, diagnostic radiology (X-ray), and laboratory diagnostics.
- Experience with EzyVet systems for record keeping and scheduling.
- Ability to handle dogs and other animals confidently using proper restraint techniques; experience with equine handling is a plus.
- Knowledge of dental terminology and procedures related to pet dental health; familiarity with pet care best practices.
- Excellent communication skills for client interaction; capable of explaining complex medical procedures clearly.
* RVT license preferred but not required.
* Minimum 2 years experience as veterinary technician in veterinary hospital or clinic, preferably a multi-doctor practice.
- Minimum 1 year prior supervisory experience in veterinary setting.
