Job Summary
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Fabrication Assistant to join our dynamic manufacturing team. In this role, you will support the fabrication process by assisting with metal cutting, measuring, assembly, and welding tasks. Your mechanical knowledge and hands-on skills will contribute to the efficient production of high-quality metal structures and components. Duties
- Assist with reading and interpreting mechanical blueprints and technical drawings to ensure accurate fabrication and assembly of metal parts.
- Operate hand tools, power tools, and measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, and shop math calculations to prepare materials for fabrication.
- Support the cutting of sheet metal using plasma cutters, saws, or other machining equipment following safety protocols and ASME codes & standards.
- Aid in welding operations including MIG (Metal Inert Gas), TIG (Tungsten Inert Gas), FCAW (Flux-Cored Arc Welding), SMAW (Shielded Metal Arc Welding), and GMAW (Gas Metal Arc Welding), adhering to AWS standards.
- Assist with assembly of fabricated components using mechanical fasteners or welding techniques, ensuring precision and quality control.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, ensuring compliance with safety procedures at all times.
- Support the use of measuring instruments for quality checks and ensure all fabrication work meets project specifications.
Experience
- Prior experience working on construction sites or in a metal fabrication shop is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with blueprint reading, technical drawings, and interpreting mechanical blueprints is essential.
- Hands-on experience with welding techniques such as MIG, TIG, FCAW, SMAW, or GMAW is preferred.
- Knowledge of shop math, basic math skills, and the ability to use measuring tools like calipers and micrometers accurately.
- Understanding of safety protocols related to metal fabrication environments and power tool operation.
- Mechanical knowledge related to assembly processes and mechanical fabrication standards is a plus.
- Experience working with various metal materials including sheet metal and structural steel will be advantageous.
