PCA Qualifications
- Prior experience working in home health, assisted living, nursing homes, or group homes is highly preferred
- Demonstrated knowledge of patient observation techniques, vital signs monitoring, and dementia or Alzheimer's care
- Experience assisting individuals with disabilities or developmental disabilities, including autism spectrum disorder and memory care needs
- Familiarity with HIPAA regulations ensuring confidentiality of patient information
- Certification in CPR and First Aid is required; additional training in hospice care or working with individuals with complex medical needs is advantageous
- Proven ability to perform heavy lifting safely using equipment such as Hoyer lifts when necessary
- Strong interpersonal skills for working effectively with clients, families, and healthcare teams
PCA Responseablilties
- Assist clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting to promote comfort and dignity
- Monitor patient health by taking vital signs, observing changes in condition, and reporting findings accurately to healthcare professionals
- Support medication administration following HIPAA guidelines and care plans to ensure safety and compliance
- Prepare nutritious meals tailored to individual dietary needs while maintaining cleanliness in the kitchen area
- Use mobility aids such as Hoyer lifts or transfer belts to assist with safe patient transfers and heavy lifting tasks
- Maintain a clean, safe environment by performing light housekeeping duties including cleaning and organizing living spaces
- Document care activities meticulously, including patient observations, medication administration, and updates for care plans
Experience
