Overview
We are currently looking for a Full-Time Driver with a valid and clean CDL - Class A License, who is willing to work in the warehouse/yard when needed. Applicants would need to be available Monday-Friday. Office hours are 5am to 5pm. Driver start times may vary and are subject to route requirements. Weekly hours and overtime are dictated by the daily workload - they average between 32-40+ hours per week. Routes are local, drivers will be home every night and have weekends off!
Class A drivers typically operate Tractor with a 48’ trailer or a stake bed truck (with potential Piggyback) that can support any route.
***Must have experience driving 10 speed manual transmission.***
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Ability to correctly identify material and Load/Unload material.
- Ensure material count matches the paperwork for all deliveries.
- Transport products to customer’s yard or job site in a timely and courteous manner while safely operating the vehicle.
- Complete daily vehicle inspection reports.
- Document and log work/rest periods and miles spent driving and retain fuel/toll receipts.
- Comply with DOT driving rules and regulations (size, weight, route designations, parking and break periods) as well as with company policies and procedures.
- Safely maneuver trucks into loading and unloading positions.
- Collect daily route paperwork and verify delivery instructions with customers (precall).
- Report accidents or violations immediately (including in personal vehicles).
- Report repairs, maintenance or mechanical defects for company vehicles immediately.
- Fill in, as needed, in other departments; warehouse, yard, production, pulling orders.
- Must pass a DOT drug test for pre-employment and random drug tests.
Physical Qualifications:
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to communicate with co-workers and customers. The position lifts heavy objects up to 70 pounds by themselves, more than 70 pounds with assistance not to exceed 100 lbs. This position requires frequent bending, stooping, pushing, pulling, kneeling and lifting up 70 lbs during physical loading/unloading of trucks for long periods of time. This position performs strenuous physical labor, sometimes under adverse field or weather conditions. The employee must have good stamina.
Qualifications
- Valid CDL Class A license with a clean driving record
- Must be over 21 years of age and have a CDL – Class A license for at least 3 years.
- Proven work experience as a truck driver – manual transmission.
- Knowledge of applicable truck driving rules and regulations.
- Experience driving a forklift. Piggy back (jobsite forklift) experience is a plus.
- Must know how to safely tie down all types of loads.
- Attention to details.
- Be safety-oriented.
- Must be energetic, have a great attitude, and be a team player!
