Position Overview:
Nagel Precision is seeking an experienced and technically minded Senior Account Manager to join our growing team. This individual will be responsible for developing new business opportunities, managing key customer relationships, and serving as a trusted advisor for our precision machinery and automation solutions.
The ideal candidate will have experience in conception and selling capital equipment or engineered manufacturing solutions and be comfortable working with customers ranging from the Big Three automotive manufacturers and Tier 1 suppliers to smaller machining and manufacturing companies. Success in this role requires strong technical aptitude, excellent communication skills, and the ability to understand customer manufacturing challenges and recommend innovative solutions.
This position offers a defined career path into a Sales Manager role, where the successful candidate will help lead the company's sales strategy and customer development efforts.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain long-term relationships with existing customers while identifying and securing new business opportunities.
- Manage a portfolio of strategic customer accounts across automotive, aerospace, medical, defense, and general manufacturing industries.
- Build relationships with OEMs, Tier 1 suppliers, and independent machine shops throughout North America.
- Identify customer manufacturing challenges and recommend customized machining and automation solutions.
- Prepare quotations, proposals, presentations, and technical sales documentation.
- Coordinate with engineering, project management, and manufacturing teams to develop customer-specific solutions.
- Conduct customer visits, facility tours, and technical sales presentations.
- Negotiate contracts and successfully manage the sales process from initial contact through project award.
- Maintain accurate sales forecasts, customer activity, and opportunity tracking within the company's CRM system.
- Represent Nagel Precision at industry trade shows, conferences, and customer events.
- Monitor industry trends, competitive products, and emerging manufacturing technologies.
- Meet or exceed annual sales and profitability objectives.
- Assist in developing future sales strategies and mentor team members as responsibilities expand.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, Marketing, or a related field, or equivalent industry experience.
- Minimum of five years of successful B2B industrial sales experience.
- Experience selling capital equipment, machine tools, industrial automation, or engineered manufacturing solutions.
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and machining technologies.
- Excellent communication, presentation, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and CRM software.
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally.
Preferred Skills:
- Knowledge of honing and/or superfinishing tooling and abrasive processes.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting ability.
- Ability to work directly with customers in a production manufacturing environment.
- Ability to identify customer requirements and translate them into technical recommendations and written reports.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Self-motivated with the ability to manage travel and customer schedules independently.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and standard business software.
