Finance Specialist (Full time)
Title: Finance Specialist
Supervision: Finance Manager
Compensation: Full time, Non-exempt
Working Relationships: The Finance Specialist reports directly to the Finance Manager and will coordinate with other staff members and congregants as needed.
General Job Description: The Finance Specialist is primarily responsible for processing all financial daily activities to include, contributions, accounts payable, and general ledger entries for NCUMC and ministries.

· Accounting/bookkeeping experience required
· Church financial experience preferred
· Detail oriented and strong analytical skills
· Strong computer skills – Microsoft office required, and Shelby Financials preferred
· Ability to work as a team and be cross-trained in all aspects of the Finance operations
· Formal education in Business Administration, Accounting, or related field is preferred.
Primary Duties:
· Maintain the accounting records of all funds associated with ministries and operations of New Covenant UMC
· Record weekly contributions into our financial systems to ensure proper accounting of monies given. This also includes processing and tracking of all pledges
· Responsible for ensuring deposits are taken to the bank following church procedures
· Process accounts payable transactions to ensure accurate recording of all expenses
· Prepare required journal entries monthly and reconcile accounts
· Prepare weekly KleerCard transactions and upload to Sheby Financials
· Maintain KleerCard users and offer training and assistance
· Prepare and review monthly financial reports as required or requested for Finance and Ministry Teams
· Maintain confidentiality of all financial information as it relates to NCUMC
· Provide requested financial information and direction to ministry leaders and/or congregants as requested
· Serve NCUMC as the Finance Recording Secretary and attend the monthly Finance Committee meeting to record and maintain meeting minutes
· Review accounting processes and procedures in order to be able to make recommendations for change to the Finance Manager as needed. Upon approval move forward with the implementation of the changes
· Issue annual contribution statements and 1099’s
· Assist with the preparation of required conference reports; including monthly Missional Vital Statistical report
· Perform the function as a notary as needed
· Participate and assist in internal and external financial reviews
· Prepare and analyze reports as directed by the Finance Manager
· Serve as Administrator of Shelby Financials/Arena/Giving
· Attends staff meetings and devotions
· Other duties as assigned
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $22.00 - $25.00 per hour
