We are looking for a dedicated, highly organized, and passionate Operations Manager to join our leadership team at our main office. If you have a sharp eye for logistics, a heart for animals, and excellent leadership skills, we want you to help us manage our growing clowder!
Position Overview
- Job Type: Part-Time (20–30 hours per week).
- Schedule: Strictly Daytime Hours. This position primarily requires availability during regular morning and midday business hours (e.g., Monday–Friday, between 8:00 AM and 3:00 PM).
- Holiday & Weekend Care: Because the pet care industry peaks when our clients travel, daytime holiday and occasional weekend availability are required to assist with management duties or provide field coverage when we are short-staffed.
- Please note: This position cannot be performed in the late afternoons, evenings, or as a secondary after-school/after-work job.
- Location: In-Office (with local field travel for client meetings and daytime pet sitting coverage).
- Pay Range: $17.00 - $22.00/hour
Key Responsibilities
As the Operations Manager, you will keep our daily business running like clockwork during our busiest daytime hours. Your duties will span administration, team leadership, and occasional hands-on pet care.
Operations & Logistics
- Routing & Scheduling: Manage the daily schedule for our sitting team. Must have an excellent geographic knowledge of South Johnson County, KS, and South Kansas City, MO to optimize morning and midday routes, maximize efficiency, and minimize drive time.
- Client Onboarding & Communications: Conduct initial daytime "Meet & Greet" consultations with new clients in their homes. Act as the primary point of contact for customer service inquiries via phone and email.
- Profile Management: Maintain and meticulously update detailed client and pet profiles in our scheduling software to ensure exact care instructions are followed.
- Financial Admin: Oversee staff payroll processing and assist with basic client billing inquiries.
Team Leadership & HR
- Hiring & Training: Assist with recruiting, onboarding, and training compassionate, professional new team members.
- Staff Management: Supervise the sitting team, monitor daily morning/midday visit completions, and provide ongoing support, coaching, and accountability.
Marketing & Field Support
- Social Media Management: Keep our community engaged by creating and scheduling content.
- In-the-Field Care & Peak Coverage: Step in to perform high-quality pet sitting and cat care visits during the day when coverage is needed due to peak seasons, holidays, staff call-outs, or when the team is short-staffed.
Additional Core Managerial Duties:
- Key & Lockbox Management: Oversee the secure tracking, distribution, and collection of client house keys and lockbox codes.
- Emergency Coordination: Act as the primary point of contact for daytime field emergencies (e.g., medical issues with a pet, maintenance emergencies at a client’s home).
- Quality Assurance: Periodically review staff visit reports, photos, and updates to ensure they meet our premium brand standards for transparency and warmth.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Availability: Must be consistently available for daytime shifts. Must be willing and able to work daytime hours on major holidays and occasional weekends when short-staffed. This is not an afternoon or evening position.
- Deep, intuitive knowledge of the South Johnson County, KS and South Kansas City, MO geography.
- Previous experience in management, team leadership, or administrative operations (pet industry experience is a major plus, but not required).
- Exceptionally strong written and verbal communication skills—you can balance a professional tone with genuine warmth.
- Tech-savvy and quick to learn new scheduling and CRM software.
- Must love cats and feel comfortable handling a variety of feline personalities using stress-free techniques.
- Must pass a comprehensive background check and motor vehicle record (MVR) check.
- Must have a reliable vehicle, valid driver's license, full vehicle insurance and clean driving record.
