Luther College seeks a temporary Assistant Track and Field Coach for the 2026-27 academic year. This appointment is expected to run August 2026 through May 2027.
Salary: $27,390 - $29,880

Serve as assistant coach for the men’s and women’s track and field programs with specific coaching responsibilities assigned by the head coach;

Attend practices, competitions, meetings, planning sessions, and other essential track and field-related activities;

Assist the head coach in the administration and management of the track and field programs as assigned;

Actively participate in the recruitment of student-athletes;

Support the holistic development and positive student-athlete experience for members of the track and field programs;

Assist with the planning, coordination, and hosting of home track and field competitions and related events;

Demonstrate professionalism and engagement in professional development activities, including staying current with teaching techniques, strategies, and trends, attending professional meetings, and serving in leadership roles when appropriate;

Adhere to the rules, policies, and regulations established by Luther College, the Midwest Conference, and the NCAA;

Demonstrate a willingness to support the mission, philosophy, and goals of Luther College and Division III athletics;

Perform other duties as assigned by the head coach.

Bachelor’s degree required;

1–3 years of successful high school or college track and field coaching experience preferred;

Experience with recruiting platforms, CRMs, or admissions collaboration preferred;

Ability to cultivate and develop inclusive and equitable relationships with students, faculty, staff, alumni, parents, and friends of the college;

Strong organizational, communication, and time management skills;
May require exposure to adverse environmental conditions such as noise and distractions. Substantial interaction with people is required and consistently demonstrating a positive and cooperative attitude is important. May require occasional lifting of equipment or supplies and/or the ability to lift, carry, push, or pull objects. The position requires travel and work during evenings and weekends.
