Public Works is seeking a graduate-level GIS intern to help improve the reliability and completeness of the City's utility GIS datasets. Working alongside our Senior GIS Analyst, you will research, field-verify, and analyze missing asset attributes across the City's water and wastewater systems—including hydrants, valves, service lines, and manholes. This focused effort will close known data gaps such as missing installation years, materials, sizes, and elevations, directly strengthening the City's asset management program, capital planning, and day-to-day operational decision-making. This is a hands-on opportunity to apply GIS analysis, historical records research, and field verification to real infrastructure data that serves an entire community. It is well suited to a student pursuing a degree in GIS, geography, civil or environmental engineering, urban planning, or a related field who wants meaningful, applied experience in local government.
Note: To be considered, candidates must currently enrolled and attending graduate school.
Locations: Redmond City Hall
Assignment Duration: Through end of year, 2026
Hours/Schedule: In-office days to be determined based on candidate’s availability. The schedule for this role will vary. The position is limited to a maximum of 29 hours per week and no more than 1,040 hours per year.
