Job Summary
We are seeking a dynamic and compassionate Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) to join our multidisciplinary healthcare team. Duties
- Conduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations and mental health assessments utilizing clinical research methods and physiological knowledge.
- Prescribe and manage medications, including psychopharmacology treatments such as antidepressants, antipsychotics, and mood stabilizers, adhering to DEA regulations.
- Develop personalized treatment plans incorporating behavioral health strategies, trauma-informed care, and medication administration protocols.
- Collaborate with physicians, therapists, case managers, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care across outpatient and inpatient settings.
- Utilize EMR/EHR systems like Epic or eClinicalWorks for accurate medical documentation, medical records management, and clinical data entry.
- Provide telehealth services to expand access to behavioral health care for diverse populations.
- Assist with triage assessments in urgent care or emergency room settings for acute pain management or psychiatric crises.
- Perform procedures such as suturing or IV infusion when necessary within scope of practice; support infection control practices during clinical procedures.
- Educate patients and families about mental health conditions, medication adherence, and wellness strategies including health coaching.
- Participate in clinical research initiatives or quality improvement projects aimed at enhancing patient outcomes in behavioral health.
Experience
- Valid certification as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner with current licensure to prescribe medications.
- Demonstrated experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities or dementia care is preferred.
- Prior experience in hospital medicine, emergency medicine, or critical care environments such as Level I or Level II trauma centers is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems like Epic, Cerner, or Athenahealth; experience managing electronic health records (EHR) systems is essential.
- Proven ability to perform comprehensive physical examinations and mental health assessments across pediatric to geriatric populations.
- Experience with telehealth platforms and providing behavioral health services remotely is a plus.
- Knowledge of CPT coding for billing purposes; understanding of Workers' compensation law and utilization review processes enhances service delivery.
