Position Summary
The Lathe Machinist is responsible for setting up and operating manual milling machines and lathes to manufacture and repair precision components. This role supports industrial repair operations by machining parts to specification across a wide range of materials while maintaining quality, safety, and productivity standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate manual mills and lathes to machine parts from drawings or samples
- Read and interpret drawings and create parts directly from prints
- Work with diverse materials including steel, stainless, aluminum, and specialty alloys
- Machine, polish, thread, and re thread shafts and components
- Measure and inspect finished parts using calipers, micrometers, and other precision tools
- Troubleshoot machining issues and make adjustments as needed
- Maintain equipment and keep work areas clean and organized
- Follow all safety procedures and company policies
- Document work performed as required
Qualifications
- Proven experience running manual mills and lathes
- Ability to read drawings and hold tight tolerances
- Experience machining shafts and threaded components
- Strong attention to detail and quality
- Basic math and measurement skills
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $20.00 - $30.00 per hour
