Job Summary
Professional Mechanical Services is seeking a skilled and dependable Journeyman Plumber to join our growing residential service team.
The primary focus of this position is residential plumbing service, with an emphasis on servicing, replacing, and selling water heaters. The ideal candidate is comfortable running service calls independently, diagnosing plumbing issues, communicating directly with homeowners, and presenting repair, replacement, and upgrade options.
We are looking for a strong plumber who takes pride in their work, provides a five-star customer experience, and can help us continue growing our residential plumbing and water heater business.
Key Responsibilities
- Diagnose and repair residential plumbing issues.
- Service, repair, and replace tank and tankless water heaters.
- Present customers with repair, replacement, and upgrade options and help close sales.
- Complete general residential plumbing service calls, including faucets, toilets, fixtures, leaks, water piping, and other plumbing repairs.
- Diagnose plumbing problems and recommend effective, long-term solutions.
- Clearly communicate pricing, recommendations, and system options to homeowners.
- Maintain accurate job documentation and communicate effectively with dispatch and office staff.
- Collect payment and properly close out service calls.
- Perform system testing and quality checks to ensure proper operation and code compliance.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
- Keep company-provided tools, equipment, and vehicles in proper working condition.
- Follow company procedures, safety standards, and all applicable plumbing codes.
- Deliver a professional, five-star customer experience from start to finish.
Qualifications
- Valid Minnesota Journeyman Plumber License required.
- Residential service plumbing experience preferred.
- Strong knowledge of residential plumbing systems and troubleshooting.
- Experience servicing and replacing water heaters strongly preferred.
- Ability to independently diagnose plumbing problems and complete service calls.
- Comfortable communicating directly with homeowners.
- Ability to explain and present repair and replacement options.
- Sales experience is a plus.
- Knowledge of state and local plumbing codes and safety regulations.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.
Training & Compensation
New technicians will complete a 90-day training period focused on learning Professional Mechanical Services' processes, pricing, sales expectations, and five-star service standards.
Following successful completion of the 90-day training period, the commission structure will begin, along with all other applicable company benefits.
Base pay ranges from $40–$60 per hour, depending on experience, licensing, and additional certifications/cards held.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift and carry materials and equipment up to 75 pounds.
- Ability to work in basements, crawlspaces, utility rooms, and other residential environments.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions when required.
- Ability to climb, crouch, bend, kneel, and stand for extended periods.
