Position Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Housekeeper to join our team in an assisted living environment. The ideal candidate will maintain a clean, safe, and comfortable environment for our residents while respecting their privacy, dignity, and individual needs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform general cleaning duties including dusting, sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, and sanitizing resident rooms, bathrooms, common areas, and hallways
- Change bed linens and make beds according to resident needs or facility schedule
- Clean and disinfect high-touch surfaces and ensure infection control standards are followed
- Properly handle and dispose of waste and soiled linens according to facility protocols
- Maintain housekeeping carts and supplies in a neat and organized manner
- Report any maintenance issues, safety concerns, or unusual resident behavior to appropriate staff
- Follow all safety guidelines, facility procedures, and regulatory compliance standards (e.g., OSHA, state health regulations)
- Interact respectfully and empathetically with residents, families, and staff
- Assist with laundry services if required
- Participate in training and continuing education to uphold best practices in cleanliness and resident care
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- Prior housekeeping experience, preferably in a healthcare or senior living environment
- Understanding of cleaning products and safe usage
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
- Strong attention to detail and time management skills
- Compassionate attitude and commitment to resident well-being
- Physical ability to lift up to 30 pounds, stand or walk for extended periods, and perform repetitive motions
Preferred Skills:
- Familiarity with assisted living or senior care settings
- Basic understanding of infection control practices
- Good communication skills and a team-oriented attitude
Working Conditions:
- Exposure to cleaning chemicals and bodily fluids (with proper protective equipment)
- Frequent standing, walking, bending, and lifting
- May require weekends, evenings, or holiday shifts
