Horizon Science Academy Columbus High School is seeking a dependable and safety-conscious School Bus / Van Driver to provide transportation for students participating in school-sponsored activities.
The driver will primarily operate our yellow school bus and may operate school passenger vans when transporting smaller groups of students.
- $25–$30 per hour, based on qualifications and experience

- Safely transport students to and from athletic events, including away games and competitions.
- Provide transportation for field trips and other school-sponsored activities as needed. Field trips requiring transportation after 4:00 PM are expected to be occasional.
- Drive the school's yellow bus or school vans depending on the size and transportation needs of the student group.
- Coordinate with coaches, teachers, and school administrators regarding departure times, destinations, routes, and return times.
- Conduct required pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections.
- Follow all applicable federal, state, and school transportation and safety requirements.
- Maintain appropriate student safety and behavior expectations while students are being transported.
- Keep assigned vehicles clean, safe, and ready for use.
- Promptly report vehicle concerns, accidents, safety issues, or student incidents to school administration.
- Maintain required transportation records and documentation.
This is primarily an after-school position, with work beginning after 4:00 PM or on the wekends. The majority of assignments will involve transporting athletic teams to and from games and competitions.
Hours will vary based on the school's athletic and activity schedules and may include evenings and occasional weekends. Field-trip transportation may also be assigned occasionally.
This position may be an excellent fit for a qualified driver seeking part-time or supplemental hours without a traditional early-morning school bus route.
- Valid driver's license with a safe driving record.
- Valid CDL with appropriate school bus/passenger endorsements when operating the yellow school bus, as required by Ohio law.
- Meet all applicable Ohio requirements for school transportation drivers.
- Ability to successfully complete required background checks, driving-record checks, physical examinations, drug/alcohol testing, training, and other applicable transportation requirements.
- Dependable, punctual, professional, and comfortable working with high school students.
- Ability to safely operate both a school bus and school passenger vans, as assigned and legally permitted.
