Talent Group is conducting a search for an Industrial & Automation Engineer on behalf of a growing manufacturing organization in Louisville, Kentucky.

Position Summary
The Industrial & Automation Engineer is responsible for developing, implementing, and continuously improving manufacturing processes, production equipment, automation systems, and plant layouts. This role will lead manufacturing engineering projects focused on robotic welding systems, production line optimization, automation initiatives, facility expansions, and capital investments while supporting operational excellence, safety, quality, and profitability.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and improve manufacturing processes to increase productivity, quality, and safety.
- Design and optimize production layouts, material flow, workstation arrangements, and manufacturing cells.
- Lead robotic welding cell optimization and automation improvement initiatives.
- Support PLC-controlled equipment and automated manufacturing systems.
- Manage equipment installation, commissioning, and capital projects.
- Drive Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Identify opportunities for productivity improvement, scrap reduction, and downtime reduction.
- Support troubleshooting of manufacturing equipment and process-related issues.
- Collaborate with Production, Quality, Maintenance, Supply Chain, and Leadership teams.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Automation Engineering, or related field.
- Minimum 3 years of manufacturing engineering, industrial engineering, automation engineering, or related experience.
- Experience managing engineering projects from concept through implementation.
- Experience supporting manufacturing operations and continuous improvement initiatives.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with robotic welding systems.
- Experience with heavy manufacturing, welding, fabrication, trailer, or chassis manufacturing.
- Experience with Lean Manufacturing methodologies.
- Experience with facility layout design and material flow optimization.
- Experience with industrial automation projects.
- Experience with ERP systems and production data analysis.
