As part of the A. Stucki Company family, Wheelworx plays a key role in keeping the rail industry rolling by reconditioning railcar wheels and axles used throughout North America. We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Multi-Craft Maintenance Technician with expertise in both electrical and mechanical systems. As a key member of our maintenance team, the successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation, maintenance, and repair of industrial machinery and equipment. The ideal candidate will have at least 5 years of relevant hands-on experience and a proven track record of delivering top-notch maintenance solutions.
We are seeking a dependable and hardworking Laborer to join our freight car wheel shop team. This position supports the maintenance, repair, and production operations involved in servicing freight car wheels. The ideal candidate is safety-focused, reliable, and able to work in a heavy industrial environment.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Assist with the handling, cleaning, and preparation of freight car wheels and related components.
- Operate basic shop tools, equipment, and machinery (training provided).
- Support technicians with wheel inspections, measurements, and repairs.
- Load, unload, and move materials throughout the shop using carts, forklifts, or cranes (certification a plus).
- Maintain a clean and organized work area to ensure safe shop operations.
- Perform general labor tasks as directed by supervisors.
- Adhere to all safety regulations and best practices during maintenance activities. Participate in safety meetings and contribute to the enhancement of the overall safety culture.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and efficiency enhancements. Propose innovative solutions to enhance equipment performance and improve production numbers.
Skills/Experience Requirements:
- Must be able to lift and carry heavy objects repeatedly.
- Ability to work in a physically demanding and fast-paced environment.
- Previous experience in a manufacturing or warehouse setting preferred.
- Basic mechanical skills and familiarity with tools such as grinders and torque wrenches are a plus.
- Must follow all safety regulations and wear appropriate PPE.
- Dependability and strong work ethic required.
Pay: $18-$20 per hour
Open Schedule:
- 1st and 2 shift available. Monday - Friday.
