Duties
- Perform comprehensive patient assessments, including vital signs, physical examinations, and medical history reviews using advanced EMR/EHR systems such as Epic or Cerner.
- Administer medications and injections accurately following aseptic techniques and medication protocols, including IV infusions and catheter care.
- Provide specialized care in areas such as cardiology (including cardiac catheterization), ophthalmology (including botulinum toxin treatments), trauma medicine (Level I & II trauma centers), and critical care environments like ICU or PICU.
- Manage complex cases involving trauma, infectious diseases, hospice & palliative medicine, or behavioral health with a focus on acute pain management and trauma response procedures.
- Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare professionals during diagnostic evaluations, laboratory testing (phlebotomy, specimen collection), and medical imaging procedures such as sonography or mammography.
- Educate patients and families on health coaching, discharge planning, medication administration, nutrition, and chronic disease management tailored to geriatrics, pediatrics, or individuals with disabilities.
- Maintain meticulous medical documentation adhering to HIPAA regulations while ensuring compliance with NCQA standards and ICD coding practices (ICD-9 & ICD-10).
Requirements
- Valid RN license in the state of practice with current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification; ACLS preferred for critical care roles.
- Proven experience working in diverse clinical settings such as hospital medicine, emergency room (ER), urgent care, or outpatient clinics.
- Strong knowledge of physiology, anatomy, medical terminology, aseptic technique, and infection control protocols.
- Hands-on experience with EMR/EHR systems like Epic, Cerner, Athenahealth or eClinicalWorks; proficiency in medical records management is essential.
- Demonstrated ability to perform IV insertions, venipuncture (venipuncture), suturing, tube feeding management, and ventilator support if applicable.
- Critical care experience including ICU or trauma center exposure is highly desirable; experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities or memory care needs is a plus.
- Excellent patient assessment skills combined with the ability to triage effectively in fast-paced environments such as emergency medicine or urgent care settings.
