About the Role
Master Steel, LLC is a structural steel fabricator and erector based in Hardeeville, South Carolina, seeking an experienced Logistics Manager to lead the planning, coordination, and execution of all logistics activities supporting our fabrication and field erection operations. This role owns the flow of material from raw steel intake through fabrication, dispatch, and delivery of finished steel members to project sites in the correct erection sequence. As Master Steel grows and expands its yard and storage footprint, the ideal candidate combines practical supply chain and dispatch expertise with hands-on knowledge of heavy and oversized load handling, project delivery timelines, and the demands of construction job sites. The Logistics Manager leads our Yard Manager and yard crew and directs the company truck drivers, partnering daily with production, project management, field erection, and purchasing.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and manage inbound logistics for raw steel, plate, sections, and fabrication consumables, coordinating with purchasing and suppliers to ensure on-time material availability.
- Manage outbound logistics and dispatch of fabricated steel components, sequencing deliveries to align with on-site erection schedules and crane/installation plans.
- Confirm job-site readiness before dispatch to prevent returned or rejected shipments, and adjust delivery sequencing as field conditions change.
- Coordinate transportation of heavy, oversized, and over-dimensional loads, including route planning, permits, escorts, and specialized trailers.
- Oversee yard, warehouse, and inventory management, including material identification, staging, and accurate stock control of raw and finished goods.
- Manage shipping and load documentation and carrier compliance (bills of lading, load tickets, DOT and permit paperwork) for all inbound and outbound steel; coordinate with Purchasing on any mill-direct or imported material.
- Develop and maintain relationships with carriers and transport vendors; negotiate rates and service levels to optimize cost and reliability.
- Partner with project management, production, and site erection teams to ensure logistics support project milestones and delivery timelines.
- Monitor and report on logistics KPIs (on-time delivery, freight cost, dispatch accuracy, inventory accuracy) and drive continuous improvement.
- Ensure all logistics, transportation, and material-handling activities comply with company safety policies, DOT, and regulatory requirements.
- Manage, schedule, and develop the Yard Manager, yard/forklift crew, and truck drivers, including hiring, training, and accountability.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of logistics, transportation, dispatch, or supply chain management experience, preferably within structural steel fabrication, heavy fabrication, construction, or industrial environments.

- Working knowledge of DOT/FMCSA regulations, load securement, oversize/permit requirements, and shipping documentation.
- Proven ability to lead and develop drivers and/or yard/warehouse crews.

- Excellent planning, organizational, and stakeholder-coordination skills, with the ability to perform under pressure and tight project deadlines.
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business, or a related field preferred; equivalent hands-on experience will be considered.
