Collect, sort, wash, dry, fold, and distribute facility linens and resident personal clothing in accordance with established procedures.
Operate commercial washers, dryers, and other laundry equipment safely and efficiently.
Sort soiled linens and clothing by type, color, and level of soil while following infection control and bloodborne pathogen standards.
Treat stains and pre-treat heavily soiled items as needed to ensure proper cleaning.
Label, track, and return resident personal clothing to the correct rooms in a timely manner.
Fold, hang, and organize clean linens and clothing for storage and distribution.
Maintain accurate inventory of linens and report shortages or damaged items to the supervisor.
Mix and use laundry chemicals and detergents safely and according to manufacturer guidelines and OSHA standards.
Keep the laundry room, equipment, and storage areas clean, sanitary, and organized at all times.
Report equipment malfunctions, safety hazards, or maintenance needs promptly to the supervisor.
Follow all facility policies regarding infection control, bloodborne pathogens, and hazardous waste disposal.
Assist with general housekeeping duties as needed to support facility operations.
High School Diploma or Equivalent preferred.
Previous laundry experience in a healthcare or long-term care setting preferred.
Ability to safely operate commercial laundry equipment.
Understanding of proper chemical handling and safety procedures.
Knowledge of infection control practices and bloodborne pathogen precautions.
Ability to stand, walk, bend, push laundry carts, and lift up to 50 lbs. for extended periods.
Ability to tolerate warm temperatures and humidity in the laundry environment.
Strong attention to detail, especially in sorting and tracking resident clothing.
Reliable, self-motivated, and able to work independently or as part of a team.
Must be able to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends as needed.
