As a key contributor to our fabrication shop, you will bring mechanical blueprints to life, ensuring precision and adherence to safety standards while delivering exceptional craftsmanship on every project.
Duties
- Read and interpret complex mechanical blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings to guide fabrication processes
- Operate various hand tools, power tools, plasma cutters, press brake machines, and machining equipment to shape and assemble metal components
- Perform welding using FCAW (Flux-Cored Arc Welding), MIG (Metal Inert Gas), TIG (Tungsten Inert Gas), and SMAW (Shielded Metal Arc Welding) techniques in accordance with AWS (American Welding Society) standards and ASME codes
- Measure materials accurately using calipers, micrometers, measuring instruments, and shop math to ensure precise fabrication
- Cut, bend, assemble, and install sheet metal, ductwork, piping, and other metal materials following detailed specifications
- Rig and position heavy metal parts safely using rigging techniques; thread pipes as needed for mechanical systems
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment by adhering to all safety protocols and properly handling power tools and gas welding equipment
Requirements
- Proven experience in a metal fabrication or welding shop environment with hands-on experience in construction site settings preferred
- Skilled in blueprint reading, interpreting technical drawings, schematics, and mechanical diagrams
- Proficiency with welding techniques including FCAW, MIG, TIG, SMAW; knowledge of ASME codes & standards is a plus
- Familiarity with measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, tape measures; strong shop math skills for precise fabrication
- Ability to operate fabrication machinery such as press brakes, plasma cutters, pipe threading machines, and machining tools
- Mechanical knowledge of metal materials including sheet metal fabrication and ductwork assembly
- Experience with rigging, pipe threading, soldering, machining processes and working with various metal materials
- Strong understanding of safety protocols related to welding, cutting, grinding, and handling heavy equipment; commitment to maintaining a safe workspace
- Excellent hand tool skills along with the ability to interpret technical schematics accurately

Pay: $26.22 - $33.00 per hour
