Qualifications and Desired Experience:
- Valid New York State Pharmacy Technician License
- PTCB certification or ability to obtain certification within six months of hire
- Completion of Sterile Compounding training required
- Knowledge of basic drug terminology, pharmaceutical calculations, drug use, and aseptic technique
- Minimum one year of pharmacy technician experience preferred, especially in sterile compounding, home infusion, or specialty pharmacy settings
- Familiarity with USP standards and sterile compounding practices
Primary Responsibilities:
- Assist pharmacists in managing daily pharmacy workflow to ensure efficient, safe, and timely service delivery
- Accurately process prescriptions and related documentation under pharmacist supervision
- Prepare and compound sterile medications according to legal, USP, and accreditation standards
- Maintain clean room environments, pharmacy equipment, and infusion devices, supporting regulatory compliance
- Conduct quality assurance and control activities with proper documentation
- Manage inventory including ordering, stocking, and monitoring medications and supplies
- Coordinate patient medication refills, deliveries, and equipment logistics to aid continuity of care
- Maintain accurate patient, pharmacy, and operational records using electronic systems
- Provide professional communication with patients, caregivers, healthcare providers, and internal teams, escalating clinical issues as needed
- Assist with reimbursement, administrative tasks, and pharmacy records management
- Generate and maintain operational and quality reports, participating in performance improvement projects
