Operations and Maintenance Technician 1

Summary of position:
The Operations and Maintenance Technician Level 1 supports the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of solar photovoltaic (PV) systems. This entry-level role is responsible for assisting with preventive maintenance, system inspections, basic troubleshooting, and repair tasks at solar power plants, both rooftop and ground-mounted. The technician works under the supervision of senior O&M staff and plays a key role in maximizing energy output and system uptime.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Assist in conducting routine inspections and maintenance of PV systems, inverters, combiner boxes, and other electrical components.

Perform basic troubleshooting of PV systems and support root cause analysis under guidance.

Clean and maintain PV panels and balance-of-system equipment as required.

Assist in monitoring system performance using SCADA, DAS, or monitoring software.

Support the replacement of fuses, breakers, wiring, or other components per standard procedures.

Document all work performed, complete inspection reports, and input data into CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System).

Follow safety protocols and wear appropriate PPE (e.g., arc-flash gear, fall protection) at all times.

Help maintain tools, equipment, and site cleanliness.

Respond to basic site alerts or alarms under supervision.

Participate in ongoing safety and technical training programs.
