The typical schedule for this position is Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. This position is eligible for a flexible schedule, with the expectation that the candidate will be available as needed to meet business requirements. This position is based in Jefferson City, with the option to relocate the position or for the qualified candidate to work remotely after onboarding training is completed.
The salary indicated represents a base pay rate. If the individual selected or the position is eligible for a pay differential (e.g., shift, security, or years of service), it will be added to the total compensation in your paycheck. A pay differential does not raise your base pay.
Responsibilities - What you’ll do
- Lead a WIC team of state agency nutritionists to develop, implement, evaluate and improve procedures and techniques that ensure local agencies operate effectively and meet or exceed program goals as measured through local agency monitoring (i.e., audits) and technical assistance.
- Ensure the state agency nutrition monitoring team is consistent in its application of monitoring procedures and techniques.
- Ensure effective controls are in place through the implementation of local agency operational plans, self-assessments and corrective action plans for performance improvement.
- Create and recommend improvements to controls to meet program needs.
- Analyze the results of local agency monitoring and recommend improvements for local agency staff training or technical assistance to improve the quality of WIC services.
- Design and evaluate tools and reports used for local agency monitoring.
- Gather input from state agency staff who conduct monitoring for improvement of the evaluation process.
- Research federal regulations, policy memos, regulatory guidance and the WIC Operations Manual (WOM) to recommend program and policy changes.
- Provide technical assistance to state and local agency staff and respond to participant questions and complaints.
- Supervise four nutrition specialists who conduct local agency monitoring and provide technical assistance to WIC local agencies in assigned areas throughout the state.
Qualifications - All you need for success
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline and 4-6 years of experience as a nutritionist.
- Registered Dietitian, licensed in Missouri, is preferred.
- Previous WIC program experience is preferred.
- Previous supervisory experience is preferred.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Ability to manage time, prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
- Excellent customer service and the ability to work as a team member.
- Superior written communication skills, with the ability to interpret and analyze complex regulations and communicate information in a clear and concise manner.
- Experience with Microsoft Office Suite and the ability to learn new technology and data systems.
- A valid driver's license.
