Position Summary
Entry-level coatings technician responsible for surface preparation and basic coating application under supervision.
Essential Duties

Prepare surfaces through cleaning and abrasive blasting.

Mix paints and coatings according to instructions.

Assist with application of coatings.

Maintain blasting and painting equipment.
-
Follow safety and environmental regulations.
Qualifications

Basic knowledge of industrial painting preferred.

Ability to wear respirators and PPE.
Experience
-
0–2 years of industrial painting or blasting experience.
Hours
-
Monday – Thursday 6:00am – 4:30pm
-
Overtime may be required.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or GED preferred.

Previous industrial painting, blasting, manufacturing, or construction experience preferred but not required.

Ability to safely use hand tools and power tools.
-
Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
-
Basic understanding of workplace safety practices.
-
Reliable attendance and strong work ethic.
-
Prepare surfaces for painting and coating through cleaning, grinding, sanding, masking, and abrasive blasting.
-
Assist with operation of blasting equipment and paint application equipment.
-
Apply industrial primers, paints, and protective coatings according to specifications.
-
Mix paints and coatings following manufacturer instructions.
-
Inspect surfaces before and after blasting and painting.
-
Maintain proper coating thickness and finish quality under supervision.

Perform touch-up painting as required.
-
Clean and maintain painting and blasting equipment.
-
Assist with loading, unloading, and moving materials within the facility.

Keep work areas clean and organized.
-
Follow all company safety procedures and PPE requirements.
-
Ability to learn industrial blasting and coating processes.
-
Basic understanding of measuring tools and quality standards.
-
Strong attention to detail.
-
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Good communication skills.

Ability to complete work accurately and efficiently.

Experience with industrial painting or sandblasting.
-
Forklift experience.
-
Overhead crane experience.
-
Knowledge of coating systems and surface preparation standards.

Experience working in heavy manufacturing or steel fabrication environments.
-
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds regularly.
-
Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, crouch, and climb throughout the shift.
-
Ability to work in varying temperatures and shop conditions.
-
Ability to wear required PPE including:
- Respirator
- Safety glasses
- Face shield
- Hearing protection
- Protective clothing
- Steel-toed boots
