Key Responsibilities of the Speech Language Pathologist
- Assess, diagnose, and treat communication, cognitive, and swallowing disorders
- Develop and implement advanced, individualised therapy programmes based on patient needs
- Deliver evidence-based interventions to improve speech, language, and functional communication outcomes
- Educate patients, families, and caregivers on therapy techniques and rehabilitation goals
- Maintain accurate and detailed clinical documentation and progress reports
- Collaborate closely with physicians, nurses, occupational therapists, and multidisciplinary teams
- Monitor complex patient cases and adjust treatment plans as required
- Ensure compliance with clinical standards, regulatory requirements, and best practice guidelines
Requirements of the Speech Language Pathologist Role
- Current BLS certification
- Current Massachusetts Speech Language Pathologist license
- Minimum 4+ years of recent Speech Language Pathologist experience
- Strong expertise in speech, language, cognitive-communication, and swallowing disorders
- Excellent clinical reasoning, communication, and patient management skills
